What to do?

Ok, I've lurked around hear long enough.

Let's say that you were second on the list for the Challenger at a dealer you have dealt with for years. This dealer does NOT charge ADM. So you will get the car at sticker, WHENEVER that turns out to be. Your problem, from what's being said around hear and other places, Auto and Orange it the only choice. You hate Orange and don't want Auto! Would You, turn around and sell it to someone who wants it bad enough to pay over sticker, or just keep sliding down the list until the Manual and color choice is available?

RE: What to do?

Selling to a second owner will be a tough sell. If you buy it, don't you want a few miles behind the wheel? You would be the original owner and what about that non transferable life time warantee? Who pays the sales tax? insurance? Also very few dealers will get 2 Challengers for '08. I passed on being 1st on the list because of these situations and because I want the manual shift convertible!! There are other ways to invest $40K if all you're going to do is paper work.

I don't know any dealer that isn't going to sell the new '08 Challenger for more than MSRP. Hopefully the '09's will be more negotiable.

RE: What to do?

In this case the Dealer will not change anything over sticker. I'm not sure how many cars out of 5000 any dealer will get so you maybe right about the only getting one. So it may not be a problem to be second and get STUCK :D with a 2009 Manual. The Warranty does not apply to SRT models at all so that's not an issue, if all the 2008's turn out to be SRT's. Of course the best I can tell nothing is offical yet.

Wait...the "life time power train warranty" doesn't apply to the 6.1L 426 hemi?

The SRT models are not covered. If you want the warranty, you better wait unitil 2009 and buy a 5.7L R/T. See:

Knew about the the SRT stipulation to that warranty, doesn't really matter. It would cheapen the impracticality of the purchase.

But, my Sienna is heading up on 200,000 miles and getting a bit long in the tooth, so I might give Dodge a whirl this time. The quad captain seats and table scream 70s conversion van and that speaks to me. Once the kids are off to college, I can upholster it in 3" shag, fit it for a water bed, have nudes etched into the glass, put one of those cool bubble windows in the top and put a big honkin' Molly Hatchet album cover lookin' Mural on the candy apple red goldflaked side with a light bar atop donning the KC light covers and a vanity tag that reads "RDNKHVN". Now, all I have to do is get the little lady to approve, maybe I'll use some of that jedi mind trick verbiage from HGTV "But, Babe, it'll have curb appeal!"

Well guys im officially out of the SRT race then. I was only going to buy it IF it came with the life time warranty. I am very interested in keeping this car for a very, very long time. So I will more than get my moneys worth out of the warranty.

Talk about pimp my ride:D Takes me back to a place called "idiot circle" back in the day. It was in Kannapolis NC home of Dale Earnhardt. The place was full of vehicles just as you described. And you would park in the middle and had 2 lanes to cruise around in an oval on the outside. Thus the name "idiot circle".;) I burned alot of gas going round and round. But I made alot of friends and set up more than a few drag races. Ahhhh the good old days, life was simple:)
