Anyways, I like my Mustang. I know when the Challenger comes out, if I wanted that, I would have to give up the Mustang because the little woman wouldn't understand having 2 new vehicles. BUT, if I really wanted to keep the stang, I can avoid the womanly hostility by getting a classic Challenger. HMMMMM[sm=grin.gif]. I can start saving and find one not in the greatest condition, but at least running. This way if she gets pissed at me, Or visa Versa, I can go out to the garage and work on it. Of course this will all have to wait until we get a new house with a 3 car garage. I am not leaving my mustang outside. I would want a 72, mainly because that was teh year I was born in. Anyways, this is what I get for thinking.

well, a few things to consider. last year at the mopar nationals, several e-bodies sold for over a half million dollars.

there was a 68 charger with no doors, the roof cut off, no drivetrain, no hood, no bumpers, no interior..it sold for 5000, because it had the vin tag, and frame, and evidently it was a hemi car...

the prices of muscle cars has gotten SO ridiculous...your best bet is to hunt around in the southeast. if you find a plane-jane 318 car..as few of options as possible, you can get one for a reasonable price...maybe around 20,000 if its in rough shape. if i were you, i wouldnt even worry about it running...you can get a 360 out of a truck and make a good running motor (non-magnum of course)

It is amazing how much money people spend on these. Thanks for the advice. Maybe I can find that little old lady from Pasadena who doesn't know better and sell me one in my price range. I have friends that seem to always get deals because they know someone who is selling something because they are older and just don't want it around. I never have that kind of luck.

All these guys that have that kind of money just to blow are really screwing the prices up for the regular joes as myself to get a descent classic muscle car.

a friend of mine in pittsburgh was looking for a car back in 1995 or 96 as his first car. he found a 69 dart sedan with a 273, metallic blue, bench seats...gorgeous car. he got it super cheap, and now, its running mid 12s, still with the 273, and with slicks, it will hop the front end...

but there is a far better chance of finding a cheap dart sedan than there is a cheap challenger.

First car I ever drove was a Dodge Dart. I was around 12 or 14. Really can't remember what age. My neighbor got it when she got her license, so she took me out to the back roads and let me drive it. I was going slow. But what I remember was it was a squared body. Slant 6. 2 door. Brown. The back shocks were air. If she wanted to lower the rear, she would just let air out, wanted to raise it, use a tire pump to put air in it. The year I couldn't tell you.

when i first got the mirada all painted up, and started driving it, it had air shocks, and i thought that they were the coolest thing in the world! since i had been raised looking at muscle cars with high back ends, i put as much air as it would hold, and it rode/handled like crap...

it sits high now because of the super stock-like springs, but i have big ass tires now, so you cant really tell. i remember the guys in my dads car club with their stock big block show cars making fun of how the mirada stands until one of them ran me...after a good long look at the back end, he stopped making comments about it...

Here is a possible solution for you TechmanBD. http://www.allpar.com/news/index.php...ullnews&id=626 They supposively make 1970 remakes. The only problem is I imagine that under the definition of this car, one of the words that does not come up is the word "cheap" or "low priced" for that matter.

that company has been in the news a bit over the last few years. i thought that their first order was to make 1st gen camaros, and there were mentions of plans for cudas and challengers. i sseem to recall that hot rod said that they provide the shell...body panels and chassis, and you have to provide everything else, and the shell was like 20 grand...

That would be nice, but one thing about that would be smog regs. I would imagine the year you bought it, say I bought today it would be considered a 2006. In CA, cars that are 74 and older(maybe 76 now) are not smogged.

Maybe not since it is a remake of an older car. If it were the case that it would be classified as a 2006, I doubt they would be able to do remakes of anything. This is why I hate emission regulations, it gets in the way of preformance.[:@]
