Default RE: Priced out a Charger the way I want my Challenger

My wife's Charger R/T WITH all of the goodies EXCEPT GPS/Navigation, Sirius Satellite Radio, and DVD system stickered at $33,500.00. We got that to $31,000.00 before we negotiated the trade-in price (the dealer made $500.00 on the sticker - a fair markup to me).
I'm thinking that the price of the Challenger WILL be comparable to the price of the Charger.......SRT8. We couldn't find one around here for under $41,000.00 PLUS the $2,100.00 Gas Guzzler Tax, taking it to $43,000.00+. We encountered the same "load the thing up" philosophy at every dealership, and we don't want/need all of that crap. (Besides, the SRT8 was only available with an auto-stick, and we want a standard transmission behind 400+hp.) You need to remember that every car on the dealer's lot has been ordered by the dealer - no differently than if you were ordering a car. The dealer (as indicated before) adds the options that get them the biggest mark-up percentage.

I WILL order my Challenger with the options I want - even if I have to wait to do that. This is the last BIG car purchase for me. The only other purchase we plan to make is selling our current house when we retire and building one in the Appalachias (cost of living there is 81% of what it is here - my retirement dollars will go MUCH further there). I listed what I wanted on the car in an earlier post here.
SO, I'm expecting my Challenger to MSRP at about $44,000.00 - $49,000.00 (plus the gas guzzler tax), depending on whether it's the 6.1 or 6.4L engine. Any price less than that will be a very pleasant surprise.
