Default RE: A bit of MOPAR Trivia

ORIGINAL: lear4406

What was the drive train and as far as trans and rear end also. Any info on that? That is a nice looking car and again I have to say that the Ausies are right next to the USA in their taste for cars.
Here's what they had. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valiant_Charger They had the engine line that could have saved Chrysler during the 70s, if not help them take over the market, the straight-six HEMI.

Engines were:

VH, VJ VK and CL - 215 ci, 245 ci and 265 ci Chrysler Australia Hemi 6
VH & VJ - 318 ci, 340 ci and 360 ci versions of the V8 Chrysler LA engine
VK & CL 318 ci and 360 ci versions of the V8 Chrysler LA engine

Charger R/T E37 (Street version of the 6 pack engine).
Charger R/T E38 (Factory production racing car - 280 BHP Small and big tank track pack options)
Charger R/T E48 (Street version of the 6 pack engine).
Charger R/T E49 (Factory production racing car - 302 BHP Small and big tank track pack options

"Six-pack" 265 ci engine with three two-barrel Weber carburetors
E38 - higher compression ratio, different gear ratios, and 280 BHP
E49 - four-speed manual gearbox, 302 BHP. Fully blueprinted engine ready to race.
Charger SE and 770 E55 275 BHP V8 340 ci.
I would actually say that the Aussies have better taste and better choices than we do, unfortuneatley for the U.S. If the Big Three would have made the same models here that they made over there, they probably wouldn't be in the mess they are currently in. The Aussies have the best cars which are updated on a regular basis; meanwhile, we get rehashed, same old models as we have had for years.
