Default RE: Car and Drivers version of Spied: 2008 Dodge Challenger

Word on the street is that the R/T versions already are spoken for.
The way I take it is that the R/T versions have already been promised to customers that have put their deposit down.

I am glad I am not buying mine until 2009. Maybe they will have an R/T version then as well.

I have spoken to 2 different dealers in my area. Both have told me they CANNOT take deposits on this car yet. One said they couldn't take a deposit on one even if they wanted to. Both have no literature on the car yet other than posters and all salesmen I have talked to are getting information on this car like we are. There are so many rumors going on .....If anyone says they put a deposit on one I'd like to see a copy of it so I can take it to the sales guys I have been in contact with and show them.

To me putting a deposit on a car where the car's price has not been determined, and where the only pictures seen are of a concept is like giving the dealer your blank check. When I ordered my GTO I made sure I had a refundable deposit. Then again the price of those cars were set. Not every dealer will give refundable deposits. On a car not priced yet with just a concept picture.......I would not risk putting any money down until I have a final contract to look at even if I had in writing the deposit was refundable.
