I don't know how optimistic I feel about the auto industry as a whole, domestic or foreign-based companies. The 35mpg standard is going to be very difficult to achieve if not impossible and requires them to sell a lot of models which are barely profitable to offset the fuel consumption of the more popular and better money makers. Being free of Daimler primary control is hopeful though.
