The 460 was primarily used in the full-size Fords in the 1970s, such as the LTD, Grand Marquis and Lincoln Continentals. They were great torque monsters but they were way too smogged up to be of any real "performance" engine - most refer to these as one of Ford's biggest "boat anchors". Most of these only had horsepower ratings in the 200 range.

Yes, yes, you can build them up if you're really so inclined (and I know of some people who have)... but they're not on any real Ford enthusiast's list as a "must have" engine, unlike perhaps a Boss 302 or a Boss 429, or even a 351 Cleveland. Personally I wouldn't bother with it, but that's just my opinion.
