RE: 2008 Cuda?
I agree. I had a shaker hood on my 1971 340 'Cuda (the first year that it was offered on across the board) and it was awesome. I still remember the looks that I would get a stop lights! ;)
Here is a bit of trivia. The official name of the shaker was: "ieqcag." It stood for: Incredible Exposed Quivering Cold Air Grabber." Also, my two cents about "two-tone" paint. My car had the billboard strip and it looked great. Also, a friend had a 1970 Challenger T/A with the black fiberglass hood and it made the car. |
RE: 2008 Cuda?
Not only is it the most sought after but it is the most recognizable..
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
the shaker hood has been copied on the rams, strati, neons, the LX cars, and pretty much every vintage mopar...
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
hopefully they offer it on the new challenger
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
If they don't, someone will. You'd think they'd want to make the money.
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
im sure that someone will make one, as ive seen the shaker setup on the LX cars, so it should only be so much modifying to make it fit the challenger. i think that the shaker hood kit for amanda truck, unpainted, is 1000 bucks.

RE: 2008 Cuda?
Didn't GM produce a shaker scoop knock-off they had on the screaming eagle TransAm 6.6L ? That was similar to the MOPAR shaker, except reversed - openings were on the firewall side, and they were flat. I don't know what THEY called theirs though.

RE: 2008 Cuda?
doug schramm's 2 dr charger concept would be a nice redesign for the 2010 charger
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
It's such a straightforward conversion I have to hope somebody will do it. It would be pretty damn cool to have a modern AAR Cuda!
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
i think it needs hood pins... but that is just me
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
And if you're going to go that route, the fins in the fender would be cool too!
Which brings up a question, I've ponedered for most of my adult life (the inspiration was a deer jumping over a privacy fence on to my wife's car's hood), why don't auto makers make "quick change" fenders? I mean, you could have a cottage industry of fender makers that dramatically change look of car, offering the ease of modular modification. Want your car to look retro 5 bolts for each fender, pop it off, bolt on a new set of aftermarkets and voila new look in little time... It blows me away they don't do this....hell, mfgrs could even offer different looks....drive down the prices on stock fenders like stock pipes for bikes on ebay.... |
RE: 2008 Cuda?
cause fenders are a pain in the ass to change i have done a few with my friend there made to stay on
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
Its not like the old days were you could zip 7-8 bolts and shimmes out and swop a fender in 1/2 hour. Now you have to almost dismantle the car. [&:] Part of the resson I went back to being a welder/diesel mechanic, was getting sick of 20 pounds of stuff jamed in a 1lb. box and spend hour to get to a part that takes 2 min to replace, it is diffrent if it is your car you are working on but gets old (well for me) when it is some one elses.
