2008 Cuda?
http://img361.imageshack.us/img361/9...rtopbanak7.jpg
It is rumored that a 2008 'Chrysler Cuda Concept' is getting ready for the January Auto Show. My Uncle works for Dodge and he said that a few Cuda concepts were designed at the same time the Challenger was. Now this has me thinking. The Challenger Concept is basically production ready. A Cuda, If it looks like the one above, Would be production ready too. And we could have a new Cuda and a Challenger come out in 2008. It seems very logical to me, Since the 70-74 Cuda and Challenger were very similar. And DCX knows how popular the Challenger concept is. And the original Cuda is far more popular than the Challenger, So I'm guessing it is very likely we will see a new Cuda very Soon. Although not a 'Plymouth Cuda', but a Chrysler Cuda. What are you're thoughts? I think it is real. I E mailed Dodge About the Cuda Concept. And here is my response from Dr. Z We are pleased to read of your interest in the Chrysler Cuda concept vehicle. At this time, DaimlerChrysler has not released any plans that indicate the future production of the Chrysler Cuda. If built, The Chrysler Cuda concept vehicle would be built on the same platform as the upcoming 2008 Dodge Challenger, and would be production ready around the same time. We encourage you to stay in touch with the Chrysler.com website as well as your local Chrysler dealerships for future product updates. |
RE: 2008 Cuda?
hmm..as cool as that would be, that is a photo chop.
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
They would probably wait 1 year after the challenger to see how it sells. That is if they really would want to produce the cuda.
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
It is a photochop. But in the e mail i got back they basically confirmed the Cuda as a concept Vehicle. And this picture is basically what the concept looks like. My Uncle said it is based on the new Challenger but looks like a 71 Cuda, So I'm guessing it looks similar to the pic posted...
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
i really find your dr z email interesting..:)
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
Me too. I thought it was just a rumor. But in that email. He basically confirmed that there is a Cuda Concept that is based on the Challenger. So the pic I posted might not be too far off. I hope it comes out. The only problem is, I wont be able to decide between a Challenger or Cuda

RE: 2008 Cuda?
They will probably be around the same price. I'll just look at them both in person, and get the one that looks better.
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
if the cuda looks like that, and the prices are similar, i wont think twice about getting a cuda...and stripping the chrysler badges, and tacking on some plymouth badges!
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
I think I like the Cuda better as well. But a Chrysler just doesn't sound right.
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
i hear ya there man!
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
While I like the shaker hood and the front grill isn't bad, I still like the body line of the Challenger better. This 'Cuda has a straight body line while the Challenger
curves up in the rear panel. As for the wheels, that is still very undecided what they will do there other than make them smaller. |
RE: 2008 Cuda?
yeah..i hope that dodge doesnt put SVT wheels on the cuda...:D
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
I too tried the question on Dr Z... and received a somewhat canned answer:
The question that I asked: Now that production of the Challenger has been announced for MY 2008, rumors are flying that there will be a Chrysler Cuda concept car... and that it MAY be produced starting at about the same time as the Challenger. I hope this is true!!! Assuming it looks as good as the artwork of Doug Schramm seen at: http://www.creatingthelie.com/auto.htm I would be VERY interested in the Cuda. I will be buying a Challenger, but have plenty room for another new car! The reply from DCX marketing rep: At this time, DaimlerChrysler has not released any information indicating the production of a Chrysler Cuda model. However, with constantly shifting market trends I would hesitate to discount the possibility of new products on the horizon, specifically designed to suit your needs. Please feel free to check back with us as well as your local DaimlerChrysler dealership periodically for future updates DaimlerChrysler has yet to announce the pricing and product specifications for the 2008 Dodge Challenger. We encourage you to stay in contact with us at Dodge.com and your local Dodge dealership for future updates. I believe that DCX will use the Cuda name again at some point, might be a nice January surprise...?... XS |

Must be a random roll of the dice computer system with correct multiple choice answers.
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
i also got the "hopeful answer"...
dough schramm is a very talented artist, and used to be a pretty active member of DF... |
RE: 2008 Cuda?
January Auto Show is what I'm waiting for... Maybe there will be 'Spy Shots' of a new Cuda, and everyone will think its an old one thats been customized.... lol
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
well, its no secret that dodge stole the show last year with the challenger...now im wondering if perhaps they arent going to drop another bomb and do it again this year with the cuda...i would have to think that with their remarks, that it has at least been considered...for instance, if you make up a random name and put "dodge" before it and "concept" after it, they will say that it doesnt exist...which means that at least on some level, this car does exist...its all very interesting!
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
Interesting is right. I don't care if this car is called a Dodge Cuda, A Chrysler Cuda, Or a Poop Cuda. If it looks like this...
http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/2...ontplumou6.jpg Then I want one! |
RE: 2008 Cuda?
where are you getting these pictures?
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
ORIGINAL: 1 Bad Mirada where are you getting these pictures? Also, he has posted a lot of variations of the Challenger and Cuda artwork he has done on various Mopar related Internet forums. Doug has a LOT of talent... I hope DCX is looking at his artwork! XS |
RE: 2008 Cuda?
doug used to post alot at DodgeForum.com...i dont know if he has in a while...maybe i will contact him.
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
He posts a lot on Challenger talk . com Both of the Cuda's I posted are his artwork. The rumor was a retro styled 71 Cuda is in the works to be built on the same platform as the new Challenger... The design I posted isn't real but it looks close to what the real thing might be if it actually happens.
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
i spoke to him and he gave me permission to use his artwork...:)
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
I have sent all his designs to Dodge along with links to his website. Hopefully he'll get a job designing a new car.... Maybe the Cuda???? Because his design is amazing I'd love for him to design cars
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
77 Monte Carlo.........I think you need be Doug's agent.
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
something else..although i doubt that it would be the time for DCX to say something, the paris auto show is sept 27-28...so maybe something will come up there...
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
I'm thinking we'll see something at the January auto Show...
My Uncle works for Dodge and he said there are a few concept drawings floating around of a Concept Cuda. It isn't a car yet and it isn't confirmed or anything like that. But he told me they are at least considering it and it would be similar to the Challenger. So nothing may come of this, But at least they are thinking about it. I can only hope... |
RE: 2008 Cuda?
Could there be any additional information from the Woodward Dream Cruise in 2 weeks?
We shall see. |
RE: 2008 Cuda?
I really hope this rumor turns into something good. [:@] The wait is killing me... At least we know the Challenger is a go and will look almost exactly like the concept. But I want a Cuda to park next to my Challenger :)

RE: 2008 Cuda?
Haven't posted in a while. Kind of hard to do here in Iraq. But I had to post on this one. If They build the Cuda to look like the picture here. Thats what I would buy hands down. Especially considering my favorite car is a 71 Cuda, and that rendition is awsome.
Just my 2 cents. |

RE: 2008 Cuda?
Hi eveyone I am new to this forum but I have some interesting information I have a very close friend who works at the Auburn Hills R&D center and he told me they are currently working on parts that will transform the challenger into a 'Cuda..ie.. hood, grille, lights, etc, etc. so they might be offering a 'Cuda or they might offer the parts through MOPAR to transform the challenger into a 'Cuda.. he said they weren't sure yet. But he said DCX has heard the cries of 'Cuda fans...THANK GOD
Colin |
RE: 2008 Cuda?
Interesting marketing scheme. This would certainly open up the aftermarket business.
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
Welcome to the forum, MOPAR_MAFIA! From the sound of this I bet the route will be for the after market. If they were going to do the Cuda, I bet they would do a little more than that to try to make it look different than the Challenger.
|
RE: 2008 Cuda?
Hi again,
and yes they are curently working on body panels and tail lights, everything to transform a challenger to a 'Cuda, and I have also been told that DCX is working on introducing a 2 door Charger soon they are testing them now... also he brought home a 6 speed srt-8 charger today the transmission is sweet and I expect it to be the one they use in the Challenger.. as I find out more I'll let tyou know.. |
