SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Dodge and Ford are expecting to bring new-car fever to the 37th Annual Collector Car Event when they put a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 and a special one-of-a-kind 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR up on the auction block in mid-January.
Held in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Barrett-Jackson Auction will help Dodge and Ford expose their new models to the public while earning money for a worthy cause. The Challenger's winning bid will benefit Not My Kid, Inc., while the Shelby GT500KR's proceeds will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
"Two of the most sought after vehicles from America's unforgettable muscle car era are back and available only at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale," said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. "Thanks to our partners at Ford and Chrysler, we'll give the KR and the Challenger the ultimate welcome back party and raise money for two worthy charities."
The new 425-horsepower Challenger and 540-hp Shelby will be joining more than 1,000 vehicles, including old Shelbys, Stingrays, Rolls-Royces, Road Runners, 'Cudas, Cadillacs, Bel Airs and Mercedes-Benzes at the No Reserve auction from January 12-20, 2008.
What this means to you: Don't have the cash for a new or old classic? Set your TiVo and admire from afar. Speed TV will broadcast live during all six auction days. — Kelly Toepke, News Editor
