On the negative side, my son had a customized Honda Civic (yes, a ricer burner) that was stolen in front of my house.
The alarm system had a short in it and drained the battery. The thieves rolled it down the street and popped the clutch to start it. It was found a week later stripped to the bone. If it had been an automatic, they couldn't have started it with a dead battery.
