RE: 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8; Revealed Officially
The negativity is understandable. After years of dreaming about the concept, staring at pictures of the concept, fantasizing about the concept, I think most people really just want to own the concept. Pretty much any change is looked at as a negative, and the interior is definitely a substantial step down from the show car interior. But everyone knows that functional butterfly hood scoops don't tend to make production. I think I'll just see if a shaker hood conversion that comes along, or live with the "functional" air ducts. I am going to Chicago this weekend and am not really making any judgement until I see it in person.
To offset some of the hating, I'll make a list of the things I'm happy about.
Overall, the exterior style was preserved, and that is the car's biggest selling point.
The B Pillar is really not obtrusive.
They kept the concept car engine, which is nice, and doesn't always happen.
The grill is cooler. I didn't mind the concept grill, but the new one is better.
The pricing is no worse than expected, and more accessible models are coming.
