Not stupid, just practical.

I'm not convinced that the '09 SRTs are going to be any cheaper than the '08s. I think that SRTs will be in greater demand than supply for longer than the other trim levels, so I don't know if you'll save the $5K by waiting six months. Maybe you will.

Having said that, I think getting what you really want in the car - options, color, MT, whatever your choices are - is worth the wait. The only reasons to buy the '08, especially considering the premium they're commanding now, is to be the "first kid on the block" or for the numbered dash.

If you don't plan to preserve the car for some future payoff and you're willing to be patient I think you'll be happier in the long run.

Of course, that's easy for me to say. I won't have the money for it 'til next year!
