I had a friend who, when we were "young", owned a 1970 ElCamino - 350 4 bbl with 3 on the tree, white with black dual racing stripes down the roof & hood. That thing was FAST. It was completely stock, looked like a Chevelle but much lighter, and would hit 75mph in first gear. I'd have all I could do to stay with him on my GPZ550 - until we hit the "twisties" - then it was all mine.
He was single, did some remodling work on the side, and that ElCamino was handy with moving things like sheetrock, 2x's and plywood. He wouldn't put a lot of weight in it (I don't think it would have fared well), but seemed more practical than a P/U truck most of the time.
I still remember that car.
To me, THAT was a crossover. The thing didn't know if it was a truck or a car.
