Car Runs on Air!
Tired of paying over $3 per gallon for gas?
Would you buy a car that runs on air?
A French car company, Moteur Developpement International (MDI), has developed a car that runs on compressed air instead of gasoline called the MiniCAT.
It costs 2 cents per mile to operate (instead of 12 cents per mile for gasoline-powered cars), gets 125 miles per tank and has a top speed of 70 miles per hour. Sorry guys, no 1/4 mile or 0-60 mph times.
The air is heated and compressed using an electrically-powered device similar to the kind that compresses the air for scuba tanks. As a side benefit, the heat of the air compression process can be used to heat a home’s water.
3,000 MiniCATs will go on sale this summer in Europe and its French producer is wondering if the car will be hard to sell because it is such a new idea. I guess time will tell.
