Default RE: Who has a 2008 Challenger on order?

ORIGINAL: 70sguy

npiefer,

just curious

how long does the assembly of a car take, say from start to finish? 4 weeks? How far apart from finsih of one car to the next? 6400 cars divided by 50 cars a day = 26 work weeks. 26 weeks from may 1st that would mean last production 08's in Dec. can't be, so they must turn out more cars a day or shift work. how many comes off the assembly line a day?

Another question, how did dodge assign badge #s? Was a certain number of the first production cars alloted for high profile persons of interest? or by time order was entered?

OK I just called my Chrysler rep to get better answers to these questions and here they are. Normally a car takes about 2 days, start to finish on a production line but with this being a new model they will take an extra day or 2 for QC. He is sure that the production run of the 2008 Challengers SRT8's will be all of April and all of May so they will build 6400 cars in 2 months roughly so you do the math. That is quite a few cars a day being turned out. Also he says it is his understanding that all of the Hemi Orange cars will be built first, followed by black and then silver no matter when the orders were placed, the orange comes first.

Again this is my Sales Rep with Chrysler and he is NOT always right but usually has some insight of course.
