I think the fact that gas prices have doubled in the last 3 years shows that americans barely change their driving habits just because prices go up. People will still buy SUVs, muscle cars, and V8 powered pickups and they'll still drive them just as much. It just means we'll have less disposable income to spend once we get to where we're going. Which of course is bad for everyone who isn't in the oil business.
