Default RE: talked with a dealer today here

ORIGINAL: RRUNNER

I've looked on ebay a few times and generally the bidding goes to a little over $50K, that's not $10K over but very close. You may not be willing to pay $10K over MSRP, and I wouldn't either, but it looks as if some are very willing to pay the price.
I dunno, I don't think the dealers are moving these marked-up Challengers, just by virtue of the fact the car is still sitting there on the lot or otherwise unsold. If the dealer was really getting the markup, he'd be telling people "sorry, we sold them all already"? Right?

I tend to agree with Lord Foul that, in times of $4 gas, tight lending standards and a bad economy, stealers are overplaying their hand thinking they'll get $50-60k for the Challenger. If this was 2000 or 2001, yeah I think they might get away with it, but not now.

I think in the next month or two, we'll really see whether stealers can get away with the markup, because people will want the car for the summer and people will be getting rebate and refund checks, etc.
