That is a true statement... I have been talking a lot about the forced air Ford and GM have been going to. Hemi on the other hand has had tweaks done to it, 2 spark plugs to help in flame travel, VVT and varible displacement. And to go to a supercharger is tuner and aftermarket stuff. I love superchargers, but when a factory has to go to it to keep up... well thats just lazy or stagnant engineering. I'm glad the boys at Dodge have stayed the course and try new ideas and keep it fresh.
Now in fairness to Ford and GM, they have been doing some of these routes as well. Ford has been using VCT in some of their V8s such as the 4.6L in the Mustang and the 5.4L in the F-Series, and they have been using Gasoline Direct Injection on some of their supercharged versions of the 5.4L and they are using multi-valve engines. The issue is they need larger displacement than what they are using as well as the OHV tends to be a better route for efficiency in price, in consistent overall power, and in fuel economy if done correctly than their multi-valve route for V8s. They would probably benefit if they would go back to OHV engines again as GM and Chrysler have stuck with in the V8 category. GM was the one who originally came up with a Multidisplacement system back in the 80s and they have made a couple versions of their current V8s including the LS4 found in the W-body cars, the 6.0 found in the new G8, their 5.3L in their truck line up and several other models. They have also added VVT to these V8s as well. Although I have more respect for Chrysler since they have not resorted to forced air induction to V8s just yet on this current line up, GM at least has not resorted to using forced air induction every time their competition has put them into a corner in the V8 market as Ford has done and when they have, they have an offering that is very difficult to beat without resorting to similar tactics.

DSkippy, considering how close the two cars are already, it would completely be no contest, probably not even against a GT500KR since the improvements are so mild over the normal GT500. I personally would be more interested in seeing how a 6.4L powered Challenger would do. Regardless, providing a little over double the hp is an outstanding improvement and would be amazing.
