I think the idea behind the pace car has always been to take a street legal, off the rack, something you can buy at the dealership, right out of the parking lot vehicle to showcase. Seems that is exactly what Dodge did. I remember when you could buy the indy pace car corvette with the pace car decals on it straight from the dealership. From those pics Jeremiah posted it appears that the challenger lead most of the race... take that Kyle Busch
