dont forget to cover that VIN on your dash
What Budman says pretty much makes the case there, Roswell. Your VIN on *all* cars is readily visible just by peaking in your car's windshield. If anyone cared enough to get your VIN it would take them all of 2 seconds in a parking lot.
Comparing a VIN to a Social Security # has to be
the worst analogy ever. Comparing it to "Identify Theft" isn't far behind in crappy analogies either.
I'm unsure as to what you think is going to happen if someone takes your VIN, even if they DO do something malicious with it. The only loser is the person who buys a car that someone faked your VIN onto. Your car (the real car) has no ill effects. I'm unsure as to what you think could possibly happen to you as the verified true owner of the car.
Do you think you'll suddenly get a bill in the mail for someone else's insurance because they stole your VIN? I simply fail to understand even in a worse case scenario what possible negative effect you think you could have.
