At first glance they do look pretty similar, but if you look more closely, the new Mustang has a much more curvy profile.
Curviness is fine for Porsches and chick cars, but a muscle car should be more flat paneled and have more squared off contours, be more edgy and threatening. Subtle details have a very big impact. Greatness is in the details.
