Default Challenger shifts its power pitch

http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll...806100349/1149

"Our image can't be about monster Hemi engines and smoking tires," said Mike Accavitti, director of the Dodge brand, said Monday at a media event to show off the full Challenger lineup. "It's about knowing your car looks good, and that you look good driving in it."
I'm not a marketing guru, but differentiation is something lost on these folks....

They should offer something that no one else offers, that's how Ford reaped revenue w/ the Mustang for the years it was the only game in town.

Dodge cannot, at this point, compete in the practical fuel efficient cars. Until they figure out how to engineer cars w/ some gas mileage and performance (think Daytona or on the import side Conquest), they better keep a performance offering any way they can. If they're going to hang their hitch on the "looks good" star....they will alienate guaranteed loyal Mopar purchasers.

I don't know why anyone in their right mind would utter such non-sense.

How about, "Our image can't be EXCLUSIVELY about monster Hemi engines and smoking tires,", "it will never lose this aspect, but rather our image will come to include new and innovative ways to provide performance to those who lust after it with more power from less CID and better fuel efficiency from big CID"

But to utter such no drivel is disconcerting. Why not be the car producer that gives you power and fuel efficiency, it cannot be the unchallenged domain of Honda.
