RE: Challenger or Bullitt
Andrew...let's clear a few things up, because your facts are severely out of line.
Reported Bullitt 1/4 times are 13.5 @ 104
Reported Challenger 1/4 times are 13.1 @ 108
Now, for "running down the Challenger"...your less than stellar Bullitt has a top speed of 151 mph.
Please tell me how that is ever going to catch a Challenger that can reach 168 mph.
Just look at the numbers, 425 hp 420 lb-ft of torque for the Challenger
315 hp 325 lb-ft of torque for the Bullitt
Now, you don't even want to get me going about all of the other additional features that the Challenger has over the Bullitt.
Not to mention on top of all of this, Motor Trend ranks the Challenger over the GT500. Granted, the GT500 has more horses and torque, but the overall performance rating went to the Challenger. For fully loaded srt8, it still comes in $4k less than the base model GT500. How can you even think about comparing the Challenger to the Bullitt when the Challenger is ranked as a better performance car than the top model Mustang? I know you Ford guys are pretty die hard, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out!
Now as for the C5 post, I will put my srt8 Challenger against one any day. Stock car to stock car, the Challenger will run with the C5 anyday. Again, the C5 is only putting out 345 hp and and 350 lb-ft of torque. The 0-60 times for a stock C5 are 4.8 for the hardtop and 4.9 for the coupe. I hate to tell you, but the Challenger is running repeatable 4.7 second 0-60 times. On top of that, the 1/4 times for the vette still come in 13.1 and 13.4 respectively. Again, the Challenger is putting repeatable 13.1 second 1/4s down all day.
On top of the performance items, the Challenger actually catches peoples eye. Every retiree with a decent retirement plan drives a vette these days. And the bullitt looks like a run of the mill cheap a$$ mustang.
40 years from now, the Challenger will still be bringing down 4-5 times more money than its mustang and corvette counter parts. So go ahead, waste your money on an ugly, equal at best performing car than the Challenger. It will only make mine more valuable later.
