you have many choices as to where you mount the cam. Mine will be just above the plate and the wires run through the light hole. I ran out of day light the night I was working on it and it sits in the trunk. I sure like being able to work nav while moving and you can watch a dvd in any gear even while working with the nav system. a good mod with a very easy install
