Sounds like a good plan to me. I have always bough the high end version of whatever car I wanted at the moment but in the end always ended up swapping those parts also for higher performance parts to compliment the feel I wanted. In the end I compromised the original refinement for added performance. You would guess I would learn my lesson but it is nice also to have a great car right out of the gate unless you have the extra cash at the same time as you purchase the car. Either way I also think the aftermarket has a lot to offer as improvements becvause in the end the factory is also tuning for the masses and not indivdual tastes.
Have fun with your quest!

Hey MJORGENSEN!!
well that's exactly what im going for man... a custom car... and yeah I'd like to put my own wheels on it to. But for me the whole custon concept excits me being able to choose exactly what i want in it. I look at the Challenger as a very beautiful car... and it is in any trim but an SE is the shell for the custom job I'd want... If got an R/T I'd probably do a blower set-up but, while thinking about that why not go all out. And i've hear a lot about these U-Pull-Em places where if you get the parts off the car yourself there cheap as heck, from wrecked vehicles. Im sure I could find an SRT tranny out there for nothing. My girlfreinds pops builds hot-rods here in town so honestly he'd probably love to do something like this and trick it out. His built some really pretty cars.
But like you said with all the MOPAR stage kits could I get this car built for say the 30k range? Find a SRT Tranny put some good breaks, lowered, ignition, tune, good, headers, good exhaust.
Not trying to sound ridiculous or anything but if I picked some primo parts wouldn't I superceed the SRT's Performace in theory?? Just a thought I've paid my Hemi Ram off and Im looking to get into this Challenger but with my own taste on it. Thanks for the constructive critizism in advance...
