Default finally! the mirada on the track....

Well, I finally got some videos of the mirada in action on the track..

the bad news, the car ran poorly all weekend, and by the time we got it KIND of dialed up...it was time for eliminations, so i was on the brakes hard on every run...[&o]

so its being tuned up a bit and i will hopefully be getting some videos in about a month or so of it doing its thing in proper running order.

also, these were taken with a digital camera in video mode, so they are grainy...but we are buying a digital video camera...so there will be better quality videos soon!

the first video is the first run in which we had the right jets in the carb, and it was loaded up badly, but still a fair run...it spun a bit on the line, and i ran a 12.90 @ 103.50...keep in mind throughout these videos that before, the car was running 12.60s @ 104ish...so it wasnt pulling well off the line, as the tires are pretty old. my short times werent awful, but they werent as good as they used to be. this first run was my worst 12 second pass of the day.

this was the first round of elims. i dialed 12.90, and the other guy dialed 17.00. his name is everett, and he is a hell of a racer, and this weekend his brought his DD, and its no where near as quick as his truck that he usually runs...Everett was the class champ a few years ago, and i consider it to be bad luck to have to run him in the first round! as you can see, he got a big lead, and i had to run him down. the car launched really well, and to give you an idea of how well the car ran on this run, i ran a 12.91 @ 92 mph..on the brakes...my 660 and 1000 foot looked like it would have been a mid 12.70s run. the video is cut off, but i assure you that i won..

On this round, i drew another former class champion. his name is lester, and he was the 2004 class champ. he dialed 13.23, i dialed 12.88. I pulled a great light (.007) and caught him by the 1000' mark, and was on the brakes again...he also ran under trying to get around me, but i killed him on the tree. i ran a 12.90@ 93mph..again, on the brakes. my short time was a 1.71, and on this run, i would have been mighty close to the 12.6s...the car felt good on this one. you can see that the run started with a bit of a staging duel...i pre staged first, then he got into the beams, and he wouldnt stage, and i wasnt going in first..he finally went in.

this one sucked...i got over anxious, and went red...then when i launched, the tach support broke, so i shifted late for 3rd gear and over revved it a bit, so i only ran a 12.90 @ 102.90...so i went three rounds..this win would have put me in the money, but considering that i havent bracket raced in two years, i was pleased..

all we need now is to get the car running right! this winter it will get a full bottom end rebuild...then lookout..

but it will still be running on 87 octane after the rebuild
