Default RE: new member from Mexico

ORIGINAL: Jeremiah 29:11

Well, as the story goes, and I found more stuff recently from my MOM, my Dad was on military leave with a friend of his also from the Air Force.

They were visiting Monerrey and were in jewelry store where he met my Mom who worked there and spoke English. He told his friend
see that girl over there......I am going to marry here. He did, and here I am.

Yes, I was born in Monterry and my Mom stayed for 2 weeks before she came back with my Dad to Texas.

My Dad is from Pawtucket, RI and my MOM from Monterrey, Mexico........who would have ever thunk it. A Yankee and a real southerner
meeting and getting married.

When I turned 18, it took me all of 30 minutes to become a citizen of the US even though it was taking 10 years for people from Mexico to become citizens back then.

During the oath I took, I promised to uphold the laws of this land and the Consitution and fight for my country (USA) if I was ever called upon and I never
hesitated and I meant it when I said I do. Yes, I would fight and die for this country but was never called to as the Vietnam draft was cancelled.

For what it is worth, my personal opinion is this country's national lanuguage needs to be English. FYI-I also speak Spanish but English is my native language.

My home and all I have ever known is Houston, TX. but I moved away in 1995.

RLSH700...... I hope I didn't bore you
Nope I find family history to be rather interesting. I'm glad we agree on the national language. I do think it is a valuable skill to be able to speak another language. I speak a little German, I'm not fluent but I can say "The Lord's Prayer" in German. I don't think I can spell it out though. I can also sing "Silent Night" in German as well. My H.S. had German as our foreign language.

I'm glad to hear your patriotic. I have some friends and family in the armed forces. I love my country and I'm thankful to live here. I'd like to chat more but I've got some errands to run. Talk to you tomorrow.
