I went to a dealership yesterday and the RT is priced between 33-37k, while the SRT was 41k. The 09's will be more of a difference in price, but as far as the 08 SRT and 09 RT there isn't a lot of price difference unless you pay big markup.
R/T starts at 29,995. (Destination included) If you get the J package for 2 grand, and the six speed package for a grand, you have a nicely equipped car for 33K. 33 is a long way from 40. That's a year of groceries for a small family. Or a 40" tv on every wall of your living room if you're single
