I googled the chevy malibu and I wasn't impressed at all. It just looks like a typical ordinary looking modern car. There's nothing beautiful about it.
First and foremost, industry analysts say, the car or truck has to have a strong relationship to the rest of the company's products.
I totally disagree with that. I think these "analysts" have no clue what good design is. Maybe that's one reason why so many cars today look ugly. The companies are restricting themselves far too much and perpetuating a lot of dumb looking designs if they are actually following this policy. I don't give a flying fig about a car looking similar to other cars from the same company. I just want something that I like! For one thing, they didn't put the Dodge cross shape on the Challenger's grill. Thank god they didn't, because it looks ugly and stupid on all their other cars! I wish I were in the car designing business, because I'm sure I could out-design 99% of the cars out there by far. Most new cars are either butt ugly or very boring looking. I think Pininfarina is a great auto design company though. If I were a car designer, I would start by taking the design elements and ideas that worked really well in the past and put them in new cars.
