Smoked the stock converter lock up... how does one do that... and what does it do to the car?
Lock up is a 2-disk clutch inside the converter that turns the fluid coupling into true one to one on apply. Most transmissions use this feature in overdrive, and some use it to certain degrees from 2nd gear on to assist fluid coupling. I have a manual switch I wired for the dyno, and think I push through it enough to glaze the OE paper clutches. My new converter uses high carbon, and I have 4 disks fit into it. I should have waited to test the switch after the new converter install.
