It is a radio transmitter - each wheel is a different frequency. This is why you have to re-train the car to learn the locations when you rotate the tires. It doesn't transmit until it detects centrifugal force (wheel is turning).
Technology... pretty amazing and interesting stuff.
Did yours give you a warning of some sort Mike?
I am thinking it chimed because I looked down and it said right rear tire low,had tire psi view up instead of
Speedo and another light on far left,tire icon....
