I ordered an SRT8 Challenger in May and cancelled it at the end of June. For me, the Challenger would be a toy and only driven in good weather. With the weather in Michigan, the car would be in the garage 85% of the time. I saw the credit and housing markets worsening and decided to wait to make a large purchase. I saved for over two years to for a down payment but I like having that money in my savings account during this tough time. I plan to continue saving and buy my Challenger sometime in the future. I don't see any reason to risk financial hardship because these cars will be available when I am ready to make my purchase. I guess the bottom line for me is having cash in the bank will not hurt me but making a big purchase, of any kind, might cause financial hardship. The economy is definitely the reason for my decision not to purchase a Challenger at this time.
