Default RE: diminished value help

ORIGINAL: LONEWATTE

Does anyone have any experience in this matter? My chally (srt8) was hit in my driveway as I slept. new fender and repaint. Any way to establish an amount of diminished value on this first edition numbered vehicle? I brought a letter from the dealer, but need more documentation. Any help is greatly appreciated.
If your car was repaired by a dealer, many of them will enter the information into a data base (which CARFAX checks when you run VIN Numbers) I would think this could effect the value if the next buyer checks....But the new Challenger is really not considered a collector car by most as it's to new. Let's face it, the value of the car will depend on market forces...if someone wants your car badly, small amounts of damage that have been repaired will mean little...however on the otherhand it could turn off future buyers if there are a lot of cars out there for sale....

**Your story reminds me of a story about a professional car reviewer. He had brought cars home for years and had no problems...then he brings home a top of the line Corvette (the most $$$ car he ever tested)...and sure enough it got nailed while sitting in his driveway....it was totaled.
