Problem with chopping them up and selling pieces though is that the market overall is in a pretty poor position for any manufacturer to probably be up to buying other than foriegn entities. Forgien manufacturers might want a piece of Chrysler to get a foothold in the US through manufacturing facilities and Chryslers well established dealership network. I am not sure the long term effects would be any better than bankruptcy or a GM buyout...
