Second gear is my favorite. The car digs just right even driving around town. I have only seen the skip shift a few times. This is an odd feature that I would like to turn off. The owners manual describes the feature and defines the very narrow range that it will engage. As I am not at all concerned about gas mileage and I try and avoid that area of the envelope.

I installed a skip shift eliminator harness today from Speed Inc. It deactivated the soleniod that locks out shifting to second. While I, too, rarely had the skip shift engage, it is an annoying feature in traffic. With the skip shift eliminator harness, the dash still tells me to skip from 1st to 4th but I can put it in second and ignor the "suggestion" to go directly to 4th. Best $20 spent do far on the car!
