Yeah but then you run into the problem of purchasing rights and trademark/copy rights etc. The down sizing will be taken care of by the bankruptcy.

I like the idea, and of course had a similar thought myself. "I should buy Chrysler and make only the awesome cars." Converting a huge company to a niche automaker would involve a lot of painful cuts and layoffs though. I don't have the $$ to buy it either of course
One might be better off trying to revive another nameplate or even start a new company, rather than convert a huge corporate behemoth down to a low-volume enthusiast brand.
