In the April 2009 issue of Motor Trend, performance numbers were published on the 2010 Mustang GT and Camaro Z28. While the Z28 model is on "hold," we have serious pny car competition. Here are the numbers:

Mustang GT

13.5 sec @104.2 mph (manual)- SRT performance for the price of an R/T
.95 g
4.6L/325-lb-ft
Weight= 3,572 (53/47%)- 500 lbs. less than the Challenger
Base= $28,845
As tested= $34,330

Z-28 Camaro

low 12sec. (based on Cadillac CTS-V)
0-60 mph= 3.9 sec.
Top speed= 193 mph (manual)
6.2L supercharged LSA8
556 hp@6,100 rpm and 551-lb-ft@3,800 rpm
Weight= 4,000 lbs (estimated)
