Ok I know there's several threads on the CAI but this one is a little different.
Instead of buying one of these packaged deals I'm thinking about building my own.
For a couple of reasons.
One is price. I can't see spending 300 bucks for a plastic tube, plastic box and a filter.
Also I want to get more airflow than the
car can possibly need.
AND
I can't seem to find CFM numbers for any of the CAIs on the market.
I have found a few links that calculate the needed CFM for engines according to displacement and build. A full
race 5.7 would need 668 according to
this calculator or 766 to 957 cfm according to
this one.
I'm not planning on going full race but I still want this kind of flow.
I'm looking at running an Amsoil filter. I have an email to them requesting a CFM chart for all of their filters.
If anyone knows the CFM of the multiple different systems for our
cars please post them.
As soon as I get the CFMs from Amsoil I will post that as well.
Once I get it built I'll post pics and a materials list of everything needed to build this system.

I'm considering the EaAU4091 filter.
It's an oval with an offset flange. As big as it is I would expect it to give way more airflow than we could possibly need.
