Cool Flying Car

You know the expression, "that car is so fast, it could fly." Well, a company based out of Woburn, Mass., Terrafugia, actually has built a car that flys. It was created by five MIT grad students.

The car was wings that unfold for flying and fold back up for driving. The entire process takes one minute. The car, called The Transition, is being pitched to private pilots as a more convenient and cheaper way to fly. It eliminates the hassle of trying to find another mode of transportation to get to and from airports. There are no expensive hanger fees because you don't have to store it at the airport- just foldup the wings and drive away.

The plan is designed to fly under 10,000 feet and has a maximum takeoff weight of 1,430 lbs., including fuel and passengers. I guess this means that the Challenger will never be converted to fly.

The price is $194,000. This does not include a radio, GPS, transponder, or a parachute. So far, 70 orders have been taken.
