I think in the pony car realm, engine size doesn't matter. you could get screaming cars with small engines, take the old v6 corvettes, for the time they were quick, and they were small in the engine department.

What it says is that the only "Pony Cars" that are Muscle car are the high output V8s, i.e. a Mustang Boss 428 is a Muscle Car and a Pony Car, but not all Mustangs are Muscle Cars. I would go as far as to say a Mustang with a 302 is not a muscle car, however the Boss 302 is a Muscle Car.
