Today it was announced that Chrysler made a $116 million profit in the first quarter on revenues of $13.1 billion. The company had not reported a profit since 2006 (pre-Challenger).

Sergio Marchionne, Chrysler CEO, said that "we are very pleased with the results...more than the numbers, I think they indicate that we are on the right path."

Staying on that path is crucial for Chrysler, which hopes to hold a public offering later this year or early next year. Investors, however, want to see a string of profitable quarters before that happens.
