Default There's fast and then there's FAST

How does 135,000 horspower sound and 0 to 1,000 mph in 100 seconds?

Next year, in South Africa, a team of Britsh engineers will attempt to shatter the world land speed record with a "Bloodhound SSC." This vehicle has an 800 hp Cosworth Formula 1 V-12 engine that is used to pump 2,200 lbs. of liquid hydrogen peroxide into a rocket engine that will produce 27,500 lbs. of thrust during a 17 second burn.

Because tires would be subjected to 50,000gs, the 35.4 inch wheels are made of solid titanium and weigh 302 lbs. each.

How would you like to be behind the wheel of this monster?
