I call them fake Challengers. Just like I called our 85 Charger (yes my wife and I owned one of them once) a fake Charger.
Atleast it was a 2dr

Only one thing is truly "Challenger" on these so-called Challengers....It's the name plate, which was made using the original tooling from the 70-74 Challengers...nothing else is in anyway Challenger....

Don't be a hater, Joe. They weren't bad little cars for what they were. (And, no, I never owned one but I did ride in a couple.) ;)

You know, I never even bothered to get to know what those were. I'm one of those guys who can ID a make, model and trim package from the shadowy outline from 2 miles away and that included the economy boxes up to a point. Then there was that period of time when there simply wasn't anything worth looking at and my skills fell off badly. This car was one of those I chose to ignore completely. Dag Gum! it was called a Charger?!

Sorry, didn’t mean to offend anyone, or sound like a hater….I keep forgetting how the 1980’s were in regards to “performance” cars…..it was a very lean time to be sure. It was a time when many nameplates were being used to sell so-called performance cars….names like the Challenger, Charger, Road Runner, RT, Daytona, Cobra, Z28, etc, etc. In the 80’s if you had anywhere near 200 HP you had a powerful car….That’s why Surfer Vans, and Mini trucks become so popular…if you couldn’t go fast, might as well just look good cruising.
An old girlfriend had a Shelby Charger in the 80’s…fun and fast car for what it was, but it wasn’t a Charger in my mind….
