RE: I saw Casino Royale Last Night
Awsure, the formula isn't completely changed, it is just modified a little. In this movie, I think he is seen as more heroic. Even after he has been threaten to lose something very valuable and the thought of losing the girl, he still refuses to give into the villans demands.
My reference to him not having perfect hair is partically a statement of irritation that I heard a long time ago they dropped Sean Connery because he was turning gray. As the others have said, Sean did a better job than all the others did. It is better to have Bond without perfect hair, than to have a Bond protrayed with a terrible actor.
I also happen to do writing of my own and I will tell you sometimes it is good to have a change happen so then the audience doesn't get bored. After seeing that James doesn't win 100% of the time without a struggle first, doesn't it keep you more on the edge of your seat? Also I enjoyed seeing James get a little what he had coming to him for a long time (his pride gets hurt), it shows him grow more as a person. If you can connect with him more, it makes it more interesting.
Just watch it, I think you will like it.
Jeremiah: I also like the Bourne series. They are more interesting that he has to keep doing this stuff without all the gadgets that James Bond gets.
