Default Painted Bottom Trim

Has anyone have the bottom trim painted to match the rest of the car? I was thinking about it but after finding out it is all plastic I'm afraid it might start peeling in a few years. Attached is an image of a Challenger that was sold on Ebay a while ago with the bottom trim painted. Opinions?

For me, I like the black contrast. It also may not take years to peel. More like months.

Paints have come a long ways especially the stuff designed to paint over plastic. You can thank the tuner car guys for that. Not sure if a primer coat is needed or not but I've seen 5 year old paint jobs that look better than the steel painted pieces. I like the black better because of where the pieces are located. Paint in those areas is going to take a real beat down.

You could also get the factory mud guards and paint them. That would keep the rock chips out of the paint. My car is black so for me painting the lower trim is not desireable. You have a white car with black stripes, it looks pretty good to me and the black lower trim does pull the stripe theme together.

I'd leave it alone (black) the car has a high enough floor to top of door thing as it is but again different strokes

I painted all my lower trim. It doesnt make the car look taller it makes it look lower. There is a special process for painting plastic but it will last for ever if done properly.

Maybe the stupid wheels on the white one detract from the paint job. The red on yours 440 looks REAL good.

Personally, I would not paint the trim.

4404spd, the third pic looks like you have a yard full of LIFE SAVERS candies!
