Pistol Grip

Pistol Grip
I was looking at the Pistol Grip that will be in the new Challenger and I am sort of not impressed. As in the pictures of the original and the new one there is a more distinctive curvature of the grip in the original than with the new style. This curvature, along withe the design of the grip, gives the driver a better feel for shifting. Also it is more natural for the hand. What I do like is that it has a rubber grip, however I would like to see Doge come out with a wood one for two reasons: 1. It looks good, but there would have to be some more wood or fake wood some place in the interior. 2. This is a retro version of the original so some things should be the same. Just like the body maybe so should the grip or even this could be an option for later versions or models.

RE: Pistol Grip
Well, the Pistol Grip they are using in the concept is nice, but you are right, they need to angle it down like picture. I wouldn't look for any wood grain interior pieces in the new Challenger, basically the interior will look like the concept with the exceptionof the gauges, I believe these will be redone. They never worked in the concept. If they don't angle it down, I am sure somebody will come out with one.

RE: Pistol Grip
I think what you maybe seeing is the difference in technology between a long vs short throw shifter. The short is obviously faster.
We had previously talked about this in May of last year. Visit: https://dodgechallenger.com/forums/m...ip/tm.htm#6034
If you really want one go and buy one ($200), you can get one at: http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/f...ifter&SM=2&SC=

RE: Pistol Grip
See the problem with going out an buying one before the car is even publicly available is not a good idea. First off the transmission I believe is going to be the same trans used in the Viper(isn't this built be Getrag), Second, isn't it a toploader trans. Third the 833 trans that were used in all Hemi's, 440's, 383, 340's weren't really long throw transmission. Ex-I used to have 73 Cuda 340 4spd, when I bought the car in 1990, the shifter was sloppy, my friend and I got a rebuild kit from Year One, new bearings, forks, etc. After the rebuild, the transmission was tight, hardly had to move the stick from 2 to 3.

RE: Pistol Grip
I actually meant to buy one just to have a piece of history. I am sure it could be modified.
I certainly would not put it in my 08 Challenger. I would buy it just to hang on the wall or maybe on an XBOX racecar seat system
and replace the shifter with this one.
