Default RE: Removing the spoiler...

ORIGINAL: Rench

Hello all,

Finally got full permission from the wife to order an R/T. I'm not a big fan of the spoiler though. Anyone that has it already, how's it held on? Or has anyone else yanked theirs yet?

-Rench
I agree with you on a spoiler. In addition to price, the lack of spoiler was the main reason I got the SE. However, there has been a thread where someone added a spoiler to his SE (to each his own, I guess), and he had to drill holes to install it. Hence, your spoiler likely will have nuts and bolts in addition to the tape. It might be easier just to get the trunk lid from an SE and have that installed.

I went to the basement and checked out my R/T and the spoiler is definitely bolted on to the car. Two of the bolt holes are at at the edge of the deck lid on either side and quite visible.

Your car, your money, however just a reminder. The spoilers on Challengers are the result of extensive wind testing for stability and downforce and are actually functional, especially at high speeds.

I’m not sure why you would want to make your R/T look like an SE, maybe your into the sleeper look and you’re planning to kick some 6 cylinder Mustangs.

Another consideration, I back my Challenger into the garage and without the spoiler I wouldn’t able to see the back edge of the trunk lid. Knowing where the car ends is very helpful if you ever have to use reverse. Which by the way, is more likely then my needing to change lanes at 120 MPH.
