What is the difference between matte black, black, and flat black?

Black would be closer to gloss black

Flat Black is just that, no shine or sheen to it, generally not used on the exterior

Matte Black is a semi gloss - between gloss and flat. It is the shade traditionally used on mopar muscle cars such as the road runner striped hoods in 69.
