1973 challenger history question
I'm building a 1/24 scale model 1973 Dodge Challenger as the car driven by Mannix in the TV series. I have several exterior photos, showing the car as autumn bronze with a black vinyl top, but I've yet to find any interior pcitures. Can anyone out there help?
I hope this helps.

Actually, I believe the Mannix car was actually a 1971 Challenger with the (at the time) new 1972 grill and taillight panel. The 71 convertible was modified by Chrysler for the show.
Hold on! Sorry about this, but some new information has come to light. The latest issue of Mopar Action Magazine (page 59, April 2007) has a photo and a small caption about a Mannix car that was on display at the Mopar Nat's.
This thing is a '72 Cuda Convertible. They converted a 71 Cuda Converible front and rear ends with 1972 trim since there was no droptops in 1972. I never saw the show, so I am not the expert on this, but if there was a Challenger on the show it was in later years.

There is an entire web site devoted to the old Mannix TV show...just do a search. I seem to remember that the car was indead a Cuda, but it's been a while since I last saw the show. I also believe he had a Dodge Dart Convertible for awhile.
Check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mannix
Season 1 - customized Oldsmobile Toronado (Oldsmobile never produced a convertible Toronado)
Seasons 2–3 - Dodge Dart GTS 383 convertible
Season 4 - 1970 Plymouth Cuda 340 convertible
Season 5 - 1971 Plymouth Cuda 440 convertible
Season 6 - 1973 Plymouth Cuda 340 convertible (actually a 1970 updated with 1973 grill and tail lights)
Season 7 - 1974 Dodge Challenger 360 Coupe
Season 8 - Chevrolet Camaro LT

The above is accurate as I've seen over the years with the exception that the 68 GTS "customized" was a 340 car - though most thought it was a 383. It was recently discovered in 2000, restored and shown at the Carlisle show.
I'm also old enough I actually watched the show, then re-runs later. The Chally was Mannix's last mopar. He drove a Camaro in the one episode he did a cameo in on Diagnosis Murder as well.
